The debate as to whether to use weight loss supplements to lose weight has raged for years and will most likely go on for years to come. Just like any other approach to weight loss, there are pros and cons to taking these supplements. The main argument against taking them is that once you stop taking them the weight returns. While this may happen it is not necessarily true.
Many doctors say that dietary supplements are not necessary to lose weight. They state that a balanced diet combined with a good exercise routine is the only thing you need to lose weight. While this statement is absolutely true, today's society doesn't always allow for such a routine. Our work schedule and family duties often do not leave time for preparing proper meals or maintaining a good exercise routine.

Most of us know first hand that this is true. Before taking weight loss supplements I was 40 pounds overweight. This may not sound like a lot to many of you but 40 pounds was 20 percent of my body weight and affected me greatly. I struggled with weight issues for a few years after quitting smoking. My job as a long distance truck driver didn't allow for healthy eating or proper exercise, so I slowly packed on the pounds.
This is where weight loss supplements came into the picture. I chose an all natural appetite suppressant as my problem was that I didn't eat meals. I snacked almost constantly throughout the day and night. Having no time for exercise to burn off all of these excess calories, my weight increased rapidly. By taking these appetite suppressants, I was able to eat less and feel satisfied. This allowed me to stop the constant eating which was a big part of my problem. Getting in an occasional walk when my schedule allowed, I was able slowly reduce my weight to a more manageable level.
So are these supplements right for you? Only you can determine this. I can only say they worked for me. However if you don't have the time to prepare healthy, nutritious meals or get the proper amount of exercise, they are worth considering. While they are not the answer for everyone and some may have dangerous side effects, a little research will help you find one that is suitable for you.
While these supplements are a great tool to aid you in losing weight, they are by no means a substitute for proper diet and exercise. You should always consult your physician before beginning any diet or taking any weight loss supplement.
